7️⃣ Thoughts for the week #07

It’s a long weekend here in BC with Family Day on Monday so it’s quite likely that my post this week will be late. (Editor’s note: Yup). I have Friday off work, too, so a 4-day “weekend” will be lovely even if, as for all of the long weekends for the past 12 months, I won’t be able to do much. 👩‍👩‍👧‍👧

We had the first noticeable snow here this week – a few inches which have stuck around for the past few days. That also coincided with an unscheduled fire alarm for our building which was suboptimal. Fortunately it was a false alarm, but we had to stand outside whilst it was snowing until the Fire Brigade turned up to give us the OK to go back inside. Hey, at least we got out of the house? ❅

Got news this morning that my Dad will have his first vaccine shot on Tuesday 16th. Mum had her first shot a few weeks ago. So, by the start of March, I’m hopeful a huge weight will be off my shoulders. My uncle continues to defy basically everything medical and seems to be fine, nearly a month on from contracting the virus; hopefully that continues. 💉

One thing that I’ve noticed with these posts is that I seemingly do personal-ish stuff up top, and then settle in to talking about web dev and tech stuff. It wasn’t intentional, but I think I’m happy with it. In time, hopefully, I can also stop reporting the vaccine count because it will just be “everyone who can have one, has had one”. 🤞🏻

Clubhouse has, for better or worse, been doing the rounds recently. It’s sort of a live podcast where anyone in a particular community can talk. That’s how I can best describe it. JAM is an open source alternative to Clubhouse. 🗣

The excellent Stephanie Eckles has created a new project which has her sharing minimal CSS for layout and components. Some lovely stuff with a cute name, too: SmolCSS 🐶
